Ida Dairies represents the Just Milk Group’s latest development. Made up of Ida Dairy, which started milking in October 2019, and Kerrera Dairy in July 2020, the project is situated on Number Two Piggeries owned land in the North Eastern Cape, between the towns of Indwe and Elliot.
Both Dairies are 66 point Rockwood Rotaries that can accommodate 1,400 cows.
The move North for the Just Milk Group has been necessitated by the high prices of land on the Fish River water scheme. Two “mega-piggeries” comprising of 4,500 sows each, Farrow to Finish, are planned to go up on the same land, the manure from which will be utilized as fertilizer on the mix of irrigated and dry land pastures. Cropping and Beef Farming also form a part of the overall setup.
